subject Re: Cousins etc.

I have also come up with same Evanses as you and have already printed all the census pages, thanks.

I have noticed too that the ages of the Gwlad & Charlie forebears could be a generation apart and this will clearly affect the cousin theory. JTW is so elusive and I feel sure the key to all this is in his background. I hope Delwen can shed a little more light on his birth cert. And if we can find Ivor Fielder there may well be some info there.

I have asked Mum about Wella but she insists there was never any split in the family. When Wella moved out to Ilford she regularly visited Annie and the family. Her daughter Maisie Buxton still lives in the same house Wella bought all those years ago.

Just to set a cat amongst a few pigeons....
Amongst the many docs which my Mum has from Gwlad & Charlie I have an interesting document regarding JTW which I have been researching. A solicitor's letter from 1932 (original). This was kept in a wallet clearly for many years and I presume is therefore of some relevance.
I attach it below.

It seems to me that this is the right JTW as the next of kin list mentions an address at which we know our JTW lived (from Delwen's email of 25Oct08 which I forwarded to you on 2Feb). If we can confirm the address of John Williams junior at Downs Park Rd. Mum says that John jnr did live near JTW in Dalston and after JTW died in 1935 he moved to near Annie.

Assuming it is right (!!) then JTW had a brother Thomas who died 5 March 1924. And is the son of Sarah Williams who had a sister Margaret Thomas.
The offspring of Thomas Williams are detailed. I have found Ceinwen Arscott aged 29 on a passenger list of ship Andania from Montreal Canada arriving Liverpool 14 July 1928 with 2 children Margaret age 9 and Sarah age 5. The address they are bound for is 42 Pontmorelais (sic) Merthy Tydfil. I have also located a possible marriage Ceinwen Williams to William J Arscott in 1917 at Merthyr T. I haven't yet followed this to the extent of ordering the cert as it is a bit adrift from my main investigations. Anyox BC appear to be a now somewhat defunct mining town where Welshmen probably went to seek their fortune. No sign of Mr Arscott returning on that ship. I don't know whether this will lead anywhere, what do you think?
