These two beech trees are all that is left of the house at 8, Elmwood Avenue. They stood either side of our front gate all the time we were there. The house was compulsorily purchased by the local council in 1963? to build the flats tha stand there now. And the beech trees are still there in 2009! They're at least 60 years old. Maybe they were planted when the house was first built? In the 1920s, I'd guess.
