Dear Emrys,
Your India trip sounds great!
A few memories from 1978-9. The warm spicy smell of India coming in through the windows on the bus from Delhi airport. Insane railway stations. Indian Coffee House in Simla. Trekking up the Kulu valley. Chittorgarh fort. Same Bombay to Goa boat! Looking out of the bus window in Goa and seeing 2 friends from York whom we didn't know were in India at all, getting off the bus, meeting up & spending Christmas together, Christmas dinner a shark from the market. Skinny dipping in warm seas with fish and snakes. Canal boat travel in Kerala. Spices and Chinese fishing nets in Cochin. Kanya Kumari where the great oceans meet. Boat to Sri Lanka. Elephants being washed in the river. Hundreds of fruit bats in the trees. Porcupines in the jungle. Opium den in Madras!!(didn't try any myself). Mosquito infested swamps on the Nepalese border. First view of the Durbar square at Kathmandu. Trekking near Annapurna. Lovely water buffalo. Hindu university and bathing ghats at Varanasi. Huge blocks of ice wrapped in sacking on the back of bicycles. Coming home to snow in April. Oh those were the days.

After a look through your new counting cousins:

In your email of 1/3/09 you gave info from Ivor Fielder stating his sons are Barry and Stuart Nicholas; have these now changed to Barry N and Stuart G?

Mum says Lewella has 4 "l"s.

From Maisie after phone call Jan 09, she says Michael son of Cyril Buxton's tel <private> ( Kettering) and that Cyril also has a son Peter.
There was a lot of shouting between Brenda and Maisie as neither can hear very well. It took at least 10 minutes for Mum to persuade her that she was not Brenda Sennitt! We can phone again when I'm at Mum's and ask if she has any more family info, unless you make a successful contact first.

Peter Wells address: <private>
Colin Wells: <private>
I'll sort out some photos of these characters at some point.

Vera's dob 4 Sep 1916.

I've just spoken to Mum. She says Steve Lucy had an arm injury in the war which stopped him playing the violin, at which he had been very good. So he moved to another instrument, flute or something. Said he was mad as a hatter - all the Lucys were. He had a sister who was a nun, whom Mum liked.
Stephen Park was definitely not Maisie's son but David's. He was about 4-5 when they married.
Mum has no contact for Graham Wood but she does have Kit's last address, don't know if that's helpful?
She doesn't know whether Nona is still alive. Nona is the same age as Mum so might be around somewhere. Gwlad & Charlie were friendly with Johnny Unwin as he lived nearby. We need to find him. I'll start digging.

2 photos (poor quality sorry) 1 is the bridesmaids at your Dad's wedding - Brenda (later Wells), Maisie, Maudie & Brenda Fielder. 2 is Brenda, Gwlad, Nona, unknown & Maudie.
Dump if no good!.
Margaret
