Dear Margaret,

Oh the pace of technology! I bought wireless-N bits to replace ye olde wirelesse networke this afternoon. Sheila's laptop with its new battery now actually works properly in the far corners of the house. And it's faster too. Does it look like I'm typing faster? Gee, almost everything works just now. Something disastrous must happen soon!

Anyway, I called Brenda Sennitt (who does not seem to have become a nun in Algeria) and she told me:

John Smith used to work for MI5. Dennis Sennitt used to work for BT and went to MI5 to service their phones. An alarm went off and people scurried everywhere. Dennis opened a door and John Smith scurried by looking for the alarm. Carrying a teapot. I love the idea of spies being armed with teapots!

And John Smith was a special constable in the war. He worked on point duty directing traffic. A black market guy used to come up to him on point duty and sell him goods like sugar. John sold them on to his colleagues at the police station. He was carpeted. He said, "There may well be something in your accusations. However, I should point out that I do have a complete list of customers and purchases..." No action was taken.

JTW saved his daughter Brenda's life. May made her a cotton skirt with lots of pleats. She ran in to JTW and span round in front of the fire to show it off and it burst into flames. JTW put the flames out with his bare hands.

JTW's daughter Brenda was married to Stephen Lucy and lived in Aberdare. She opened the front door and saw a strange chap standing on the far side of the street standing looking at her house. She shut the door. Only later did she realise that it had been JTW.

Brenda Sennitt said that Owen Lloyd Williams refused to go to Cfarthfa Castle school because he saw how desperately hard it was to afford to send Dad there. (As opposed to Valerie, who said that Owen wanted to go but couldn't because they had no money.) I do recall that Dad said that there was exactly one day in his childhood when he couldn't go to school because he had no shoes.

Owen and Rhian's phone number is <private>.

Which led to a call to Rhian this evening, 5 Mar 2009.

Rhian told me that:

Owen Stephen Alexander Sennitt and Rhian Williams [of course] married on 1989-7-29.
Rhian was born 1964-9-7.
Their children were all born in Cardiff:

Hannah plays hockey for Wales under-16s.
