On the trip by Brenda Sennitt, Brenda Wells, Margaret Wells, Emrys Williams and Alun Clement to Cefn Coed and Ystradfellte on 12 Oct 2011. We arranged to meet Alun Clement at the Lord Raglan in Cefn for lunch, so he took us to the Nant Du Lodge and paid for lunch! We asked him for family details and (among many good tales) he recollected:

Alun Clement was born Born 11 Jan 1947 Dowlais, ?? nursing home.
He married 13 Sep 1975

Alun's father was Ivor Oswald Clement (he hated the Oswald) in Ireland House, ??, Swansea, the family home, about 17 July 1907. Ivor died 8 nov aged 72 1979 approx in Torremolinos, Spain. He had heart problems and died in the lift on the way down to dinner, just after the doctor had said he was OK.

Alun's mother Margaret died on 23 mar ?1990?, Singleton Hospice, Swansea, aged 72, again of heart problems.

Rhiannon 7 May 1979 (the same as the twins- Nancy and Betty Ellis)
Rhys 31 dec 1983
Rhys married Virginia Longhill 17 Jul 2010, who has a baby boy due 16 Dec 2011.

David Elwyn Clement, Ivor's brother, was vicar of Ystradfellte.
Ivor's parents were Josiah Rees Clement and Elizabeth.

Nancy Ellis was called Ann, Nancy was a pet name.

Alun lived in Frondeg, Cefn Coed, until he was 15, with his parents, Ivor and Margaret. Margaret's parents, Will Ellis and Claudia Williams also lived there. Until Alun was about 8 (1955) Nancy Ellis lived there too, and she moved out when she married. (Brenda Wells later pointed out where the house was. Drive up Cefn High Street and over the Heads Of The Valleys Road, turn immediate right. There was a house on the corner, and Frondeg was the next house.) Ivor bought Frondeg, but it was compulsorily purchased to build the Heads Of The Valleys road, and demolished. An estate, Gersanws, was built to house the people moved. Ivor, Margaret and Alun moved to 28, Gersanws.
Will Ellis and Claudia lived at 27 Gersanws. Will only survived a few months there. [There was confusion about which house was which. Later, Alun passed by Gersanws, and confirmed that he had lived at 28 and Will and Claudia at 27.]

Ivor, Margaret and Alun only lived at Gersanws for 6 months, then bought the shop at 31, High Street, Cefn Coed. They were a newsagents and fancy goods (Welsh nicknack) shop.

Mary John, formerly Wiliams, owned the shop before then, and was apparently a relative on Claudia's side?
Mary had a degree, perhaps from Aberystwyth, and was mayor of merthyr in 1978

Will Ellis died about April 1963. His full name was William Richard Ellis and he was 2 years younger than Claudia. He was 67 when he died.
Claudia died when Alun was 20. (about 1967). Alun moved in with her in Gersanws for the last few months of her life.

Harry Thomas was a major. He was 18 years older than Nancy.
Nancy died 1 year before Margaret Ellis.

Dai Thomas (Harry Thomas's brother) died 24 hours before Nancy, leaving her his estate. If Nancy had died two days earlier, all would have been different, but Dai's estate passed through Nancy to nancy's children.

Harry Thomas died a few years beofre that, about 3 years after Rhys Clement was born, so 1986-89.

And earlier in Cefn, Alun said that the family owned several small parcels of land in Cefn, but they were pretty useless, and potentially owned by so many family members that they were impossible to sort out. One was inaccessible, enclosed by other property.

There was some confused mention of "grandfather's mill", a mill owned by a grandfather of Nancy Clement.
