Narrative
Mary Ann (or Polly) seems to have been in two places at the same time for the 1881 census.
Narrative
On Monday 15 Aug 2011, in Merthyr Tydfil library (reference section!), John Mallon told EJW that he lived next door to the Rising Sun Stores. (The Rising Sun proprietor later told EJW that John lived around the corner on the side road, not on the high street.) John appeared to be about 40, didn't have an email address, and neglected to leave a phone number.
John Mallon said that Dai the Rising, proprietor of the Rising Sun Stores some time before the present occupants, inherited the shop from his Aunt Polly, who died relatively young sometime around 1930. Was this Mary Ann Jones? We know she was called Polly from one of the two 1881 censuses. Her nephew would have been the sone of one of her siblings, about whom we know nothing.
John Mallon also said that one of his, John Mallon's, ancestors was a Thomas Williams born in Llywel about 1800. He said that Llywel was tiny and it could be the same person. His Thomas was sibling to Rebecca, Rhys, Walter who was a botanist, and David who emigrated to the US. The father of his Thomas Williams was William Thomas from ?Senny?
John said that the Llywel baptism records are in good condition. They're at the Welsh National Archive.
