Dear Emrys,
Sorry, Lilian Watkins is the daughter of Thomas Watkins, Annie's brother. Thomas married Lizzie and had Tydfil, Lilian and Jack. Delwen mentions in a recent message that she believes Lilian died some years ago.
"After your last e-mail I wrote to the other cousin with whom we used to exchange Christmas cards, Lilian Watkins, at 10 Horeb Close Pen y Darren. However I didn't get a reply, so I assume she has passed on, she was over 80 in 1999, when she sent me a card saying she was too old to come to England, but she still rode her bike every day! Unlike the Williams' the Watkins' were a long lived family. I remember my father taking me round a churchyard and pointing out the ages on their tombstones
Delwen"
Marion Eluned Thomasine Thomas is the daughter of Will Thomas and Polly (Mary) Williams, b appx 1871, Polly being Charlie's sister and the only survivor of his early siblings, the rest of whom died in an epidemic. Marion was a teacher & lived in N. Wales.
Alan Woods is the son of Peg, your father's sister Margaret Elizabeth, who was married originally to Reg Wood, who left her. According to my Mum he went out to work one day and never returned. Peg later married John Smith. Alan was brought up pretty much as Mum's brother and she says he did not know for some considerable time that Peg was his mother.
Winnie is the daughter of Margaret (Maggie) Williams, b appx 1882, another of Charlie's sisters. Maggie married John Nicholas Edward (known as Ted) Elliman. Winnie Elliman married Bryn Price who predeceased her and she died last year in Cefn aged about 90.(no children)
According to my Mum Marjorie already had a son when she and Ni married and they had no other children. I'll ask my Mum if she can remember his name, but I don't think she knows.
Attached interesting photo with, according to Mum, John Thomas Wms in bottom right. It appears to be the foundation stone and dedication of a building. JTW was clerk of works in London at one point so perhaps he is there in that capacity.
Also a rare photo of Annie AND John Thomas together, at Wella's wedding. Front row from left: ?, Gwladys, Walter Buxton, Wella, May and Peg or Brenda. 2nd row from left: ?, ?, ?, ?, Annie, John Thomas, ?(looks familiar, do you recognise her?), Jimmy Fielder. Back row all unknown.
Thanks to you too!
Margaret
