Event Note

The LCWilliams letter and Buxton online family tree sources give May's date of birth as 1890-11-16, one year out, and even Ivor Fielder thought that was right, but the birth certificate says it's 1891.

Event Note

Ivor Fielder says it was 19, Glocuester Gardens, but both the photo of May at number 22's gate and the Williams girls photo from Valerie suggest it was 22. Jimmy bought more than one of these houses. Perhaps they moved between them.

Fielder, J H, is in the 1949 phone book at 22, Gloucester Gardens: Barnet 7035. However, he's not in any earlier phone books. He continues in the phone books at the same address and number all the way to 1962.

Event Note

In a phone call to Emrys on 29 July 2009, Ivor Fielder said that he we sure that May died in Felixstowe cottage hospital. He though the date was October 1993, but that doesn't seem to be right.

Narrative

Sarah Annie Williams, eldest daughter on the census, gave her name as May S. A. Williams at marriage.
Brenda Sennitt thinks that May was the eldest sibling.

FreeBMD has only 4 Fielder-Williams births in the range 1915 to 1940. Why so few? Fielder must be a rather uncommon name. Of those four, only May's two were born in Hackney.

Narrative

Ivor Fielder repeats his assertion that May lived on a farm for the first 14 years of her life. He says he took her back there and found it after much difficulty in 1956. Either the farm name or the village name was Yastrafelt, or something that sounded like that. IF thinks it was off the road to Brecon out of Merthyr up the Taff valley.

From the Ivor Fielder conversation source.

Narrative

A large bomb fell in Mildenhall Road in 1940. When everyone came home on Friday evening, May gave them instructions on coming home the next day (they all worked a half day on Saturdays] to their new house in Cockfosters. She had organised it all by herself to get away from the bombing. They moved to 19, Gloucester Gardens, Cockfosters. They first rented the house then bought it. Jimmy bought two others and later sold them in the same development.

Narrative

The Photo mayandivorfielder is not them! It's actually Annie Watkins and John Williams, about 1903 or 1904. According to Ivor Fielder, in a phone call to Emrys on 13 Aug 2009. Ivor has a copy of the photo in his own collection.
