Narrative

Ivor fielder recalls that LCWilliams had a Fowler phrenological head when he lived at Teddington before the war. LCWilliams would read the children's bumps. When LCWilliams was still in Merthyr after he left school, he played for Merthyr Tydfil FC, a professional club, but demanded to play as an amateur. LCWilliams stopped playing when he couldn't stop the club giving him money, because he didn't want to compromise his amateur status. They hid the money in his boots!

During the war LCWilliams and EMFrancis rented a house in Highfields Road, Beeston. [Goldsmith's college, where LCWilliams now worked, was evacuated to Nottingham in the war.] 6 to 8 teachers shared the house. One woman whose married name was Rogers, later turned out to be the wife of IF's boss at Imperial Tobacco. She had an affair with another teacher in the Beeston house and left IF's boss. Ivor Fielder met Mona Marriott at the Beeston house. He travelled there on leave from his Lincolnshire bomber base.

Narrative

Email from Owen Sennitt to Emrys 10 June 2009:

No worries.A few bits of narrative to use as or if you wish:- John Smith (Peggy Williams 2nd husband) was my Dads best man. Also he was not MI5 but head of security at War Office (same thing in those days I suppose)- With regards to Aneurin (Nye) Williams - he introduced my Mum and Dad as Dad taught Mum to drive as a favour to him (Nye, John Smith and Dad were drinking partners! - this may also be how John met Peggy but not sure)- You may remember that when I was about 10-11 years old Uncle Wells used to help out at my nirthday parties by refereeing a 6-a-side football match and then come swimming with us all and teach us diving etc. He may have been 70-71 but he was fit and could keep going with all of us. My school friends nicknamed him 'Super Wells'.RegardsOwen
